Sparty On!

Do you know how hard it was for me to post that title??!! LOL I am a die hard U-M fan!! ;) But when this gorgeous momma called and wanted a session at MSU of her cute little family... I couldn't resist. ;)

Dad is the new assistant basketball coach and so they wanted to really play up the whole "Spartan" theme. I think we nailed it. And I can't wait to see little Miss Q in another couple months for her 2 year session. ;)

The BIG Holiday Contest!!

The holidays are coming! Are you excited?! I am. ;) I love the holidays. The chill in the air, the hot cocoa in the mugs, the parties, the gift giving, the spirit that seems to be in everyone. AND..... in keeping with the wonderful "giving spirit" of the season, I am GIVING away a FULL FAMILY SESSION, plus CD!

Want to win?! Of course you do! And it's sooo easy!

All you have to do is email a photo of your child(ren) to whitney@whitneymccoyphotography.com (in the subject line be sure to put HOLIDAY 2011). Photos will then be posted in a special album on WMP Facebook page. The photo with the most "LIKES" wins a full family session (for up to 6 people) and image CD. :)

Here are the rules:

-Photos must be submitted before midnight, Sunday, October 16th.

-One submission per family.

-Photos must be YOUR OWN! If it's a professional photo you MUST have the rights to use it.

-You must include your full name and contact info in the email. (if you win I want to be able to get a hold of you.. ;) 

-You must live in, or be willing to travel to, the SE Michigan area for the photo session.

That's it! Voting will run from Monday, Oct. 17th thru Sunday, Oct. 23rd. And the winner will be announced Monday, Oct. 24th!

So.. I realized I failed to blog this cutie family a couple months back!! Shame on me... ;)

This little boy was a DOLL to work with, seriously... sooooo cute and sooo good! Wish my kids would listen to me as well as he did. :)

This cutie family came all the way from California to have me photograph them! Oh... and to visit family. hee hee This is my brother-in-law and his totally gorgeous family. They were so fun to photograph. I love their laid-back-cali-style. Makes me kinda miss the west coast. Kinda. ;)

We had a great time... even though my little nephew wasn't really all that into it, we still captured some wonderful moments! EnJoY!!

Fashion Friday | howell michigan photographer

Fashion Friday... on.. Saturday.. ;) It's be a while since I've done a "Fashion Friday", so I thought I'd bring it back!

All these outfits were found at OldNavy.com I like ON because they are A) inexpensive.. a nice plus when you are trying to outfit your whole family for photos, and B) they seem to carry similar colors in ever department. ;)

Now, don't assume that you need to buy your WHOLE family an entirely new outfit for photos. You can usually find things in your own closets that will work. I like to do these "Fashion Fridays" to help give you ideas of how to coordinate your own family. I usually like to choose one outfit and use that dress everyone else around. In this case I picked the moms outfit and pulled colors from that to create everyone's look. Another idea is to first choose an outfit for your child and dress around that. :)

It's also nice to pick interesting fabrics and textures. Ruffles, for example, are great way to add visual interest (not to mention.. useful to hide an imperfect tummy.. ;). Belts, necklaces, and scarves, are also fun additions to photos. :)
